Homeland of the Jewish people

The idea of a homeland for the Jewish people is rooted in Jewish culture and religion. The The Napoleonic Wars helped give rise to the idea of Jewish emancipation in the early nineteenth century . Many cultural, religious, secular, and political philosophies arose among the Jews of Europe, including everything from Marxism to Hasidism. Among these movements was the Zionist movement promoted by Theodor Herzl.
